Handling a Good Teenager in a Bad Environment
  1. Facts to Face
    • You are not responsible for the mess things are in (do not blame yourself).
    • God does not condemn you for the choices your parents make.
    • You do not have to reproduce it (in your life or that of your children).
    • A bad situation may be good - part of God’s plan to make something special.

  2. Facts to Formulate
    • Stay strong in the Word of God.
    • Pray daily for strength and help.
    • Be what you should be (your parents’ poor conduct is no excuse).
    • Do not be judgmental of others.
    • Do not talk too much about it (especially to your peers).
    • Keep a thankful spirit (God is doing something in it and through it).
    • Get yourself a hero.
    • Seek godly counsel whenever it is possible.
    • Do not dwell on your problem or use it to gain sympathy.
    • Beg God to do something for you.
Conclusion: You really cannot help where you are. You can help both what you are and what you become.
